What We Believe
Most technology fails the same way: it works in the demo and dies on contact with the job. A tool that performs in a conference room is not a tool that performs in a maintenance bay at 6am, with cold hands, gloves, ambient noise, and four hours of sleep. SNI designs for the second scenario, because that is the one that decides whether anything we build is actually used.
We are unsentimental about the technology itself. The model is rarely the bottleneck; the way the problem is framed to it usually is. Good prompt architecture, honest field testing, and the discipline to throw out what doesn’t get used matter more than any particular model.
How We Work
We build in the open. SNI’s FlyForward build log is public — we document what we tried, what failed, what we changed, and why, because the failures are where the real learning is and hiding them helps no one. We get a prototype into real conditions fast, watch what breaks, and iterate. Field audits — what gets used, how, and why — are a core part of the work, not an afterthought.
SNI also runs the Consortium’s badge infrastructure: a three-level credential ladder (Foundations, Practitioner, Architect) evaluated against actual work outputs, not seat time. An Architect-level badge means someone has designed, deployed, audited, and iterated on a real AI-assisted tool in real field conditions — which signals something a certificate of completion cannot.
On FlyForward
SNI is developing the FlyForward AI field assistant — a mobile-first tool for maintenance personnel to use during hands-on equipment inspection — and the technology that makes the curriculum and credentialing scalable. The division is led by Chloe Chen, Director of Innovations.
